One crime rate that is not going down: child sex crimes. A recent report by Stats Canada crime report found that child porn increased 36% in one year, and all aggravated sexual assaults increased by 56%. In Ontario alone, 10,000 cases have been investigated since 2006 and more than 3,600 charges have been laid against 1,219 people for internet sex crimes. For every photo there is a victim, for every download there is a crime against a child.

60 days in jail for child porn suspect

Sentencing has come down on an Esterhazy man charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Chris Allen Jacques has been sentenced to 60 days in jail and is to be served intermittently

He will also be registered under the Sex Offender Act for the next 10 years, and will be banned from firearms during that time as well.

Jacques was one of five people in the province arrested by the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit late in 2009.
