A man at the centre of the Maple Leaf Gardens sex abuse scandal now faces 98 charges in relation to alleged offences that took place in the Toronto area decades ago.

The latest charges — in addition to more than 70 laid against Gordon Stuckless earlier this year — were announced in a Toronto court today.

A judicial pre-trial has been held for Stuckless and dates have now been set for a preliminary hearing in his case.

Those proceedings are set to being in April next year and are expected to run for five weeks.

Seventeen individuals have come forward in Toronto and York Region with complaints against Stuckless for alleged offences between 1965 and 1984.

Stuckless was not in court today but was represented by his lawyer who says his client is following all the conditions of his bail and leading a “very, very quiet life.”

Stuckless was convicted in 1997 for sex assaults on 24 boys while he was an usher at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens between 1969 and 1988.
