A 60-year-old Vaughan man has to submit a DNA sample to the natonal data bank and can’t have access to computers after pleading guilty to possession of child pornograhy and luring.

Antonio Bono was also sentenced to 20 months in jail, less 15 months and four days served beforehand.

Mr. Bono appeared before Honourable Justice Guy P. DiTomasso in Ontario Superior Court in Barrie Oct. 8 for sentencing.

A search warrant was executed at Mr. Bono’s house April 22, 2004, where 1,700 videos, hundreds of DC ROMs and floppy discs, five computers and two additional hard drives were seized.

During an investigation, officers learned Mr. Bono lured a 14-year-old girl into an online relationship.

In 2000, Mr. Bono began interacting with the victim in an Internet chat room posing as a 17-year-old, court heard.

Parents are reminded to teach their children about Internet safety.

Children should never give anyone their name, address, telephone number, computer password or any other personal information without parental or guardian consent.

Children should stay out of chat rooms and websites not approved by their parents.

Children should also be supervised by adults when they are online and should not have access to a web camera, especially in their bedrooms.
