An Abbotsford pastor has pleaded guilty to sexual assault. The plea stems from an incident on Feb. 11 which involved a 15-year-old boy.

Patrick Marini, 69, entered his plea in Abbotsford provincial court on Wednesday morning. He was originally charged with both sexual assault and sexual interference of a person under 16.

Marini was charged after a teenage boy told his mother about an incident that allegedly occurred with Marini. The matter was then reported to and investigated by Abbotsford Police.

Marini will now undergo a psychological examine as part of the pre-sentence report before returning to court at a later date.

An online profile describes Marini as a missionary/pastor who has ministered in Canada, the U.S., India, Africa and Europe. He previously lived in Ontario and Saskatchewan.
