The former vice-principal of a Halifax-area junior high school pleaded guilty yesterday to possessing child pornography. James Campbell was sentenced to six months' house arrest to be followed by a six-month curfew. The 54-year-old is the second man from Nova Scotia to be convicted after an investigation of a child porn website by police in New Jersey.

A credit card transaction, made 3.5 years ago, led Halifax police to Mr. Campbell. There was no indication he did anything improper with children at Cunard Junior High School in Williams Lake, where he worked before he was charged in December 2005. He took a leave of absence, then took early retirement last April.
