One crime rate that is not going down: child sex crimes. A recent report by Stats Canada crime report found that child porn increased 36% in one year, and all aggravated sexual assaults increased by 56%. In Ontario alone, 10,000 cases have been investigated since 2006 and more than 3,600 charges have been laid against 1,219 people for internet sex crimes. For every photo there is a victim, for every download there is a crime against a child.

man charged with child porn offences to be sentenced in may

A sentencing date has been set for a Calgary man facing child pornography charges from last year.

59-year-old Clement John Murray was arrested last December following an investigation involving a Facebook account.

Police alleged he used it to upload and share child pornography over six months.
Facebook started to get complaints and the investigation was turned over to the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team's ICE unit.

They searched a home and business, seizing several computers and other devices.

Murray was then charged with accessing, possessing and distributing child pornography.

Alberta Justice confirms he pleaded guilty to all three counts on November 30th.
Then on Friday, lawyers set a sentencing date of May 9th.
