Among the things a child pornographer told the young Calgary girls he was trying to recruit for sex was that he wished he raped one of them.

That information is detailed in a statement of agreed facts made an exhibit Tuesday after Carl Johnathon Ryan pleaded guilty to nine charges.

Ryan entered guilty pleas to allegations including Internet luring, making and possessing child pornography after a week’s worth of evidence was called at his Court of Queen’s Bench trial.

In the agreed facts, drafted by Crown prosecutor Jenny Rees and signed by defence lawyer Adriano Iovinelli and the offender, Ryan admitted to mostly targeting two teenage girls.

But in chat logs found on Ryan’s computer after it was seized in August, 2009, police were able to identify five additional girls under 16 where offences were being committed.

The court exhibit said on one occasion Ryan went to the home of one of his main targets, whom he had been communicating through text message when she was 14 and 15.

“(The girl) does not know how Ryan got her address,” said the exhibit, presented to Justice Alan Macleod.

“Ryan stayed at (her) house for 20 minutes and then left after (she) said that her mother was coming home,” it said,

“Ryan called (her) afterwards and stated that he wished he had raped her.”

Ryan also sent both girls images of himself on a webcam touching his private parts.

And he convinced one of them to send naked pictures of herself to him.

At Iovinelli’s request, Macleod ordered a pre-sentence report by probation.

He also agreed with both the defence lawyer and Rees that a psychiatric assessment was warranted.

Rees asked that such testing concentrate on “risk assessment and any psychological issues that might be present.”

A date for Ryan’s sentencing hearing will be set in December, once the reports are completed.

He remains at liberty pending an outcome to the case.
